The attacks in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, over the weekend that have taken at least 31 lives have put a spotlight on the problem of young, isolated white men carrying out mass shootings.
But a list of the people arrested or charged in the 255 mass shootings recorded this year — defined as four or more people shot or killed — shows the problem isn’t confined to white men or motivations of white supremacy.
If there’s a thread, it’s young men whose biological father was missing in their lives. After the Parkland school massacre in Florida, the Heritage Foundation cited a study showing that among the 25 most-cited school shooters since Columbine, 75 percent were reared in broken homes.
Most, according to psychologist Peter Langman, an expert on school shooters, came from homes that also experienced infidelity, substance abuse, criminal behavior, domestic violence and child abuse.
More than 520 people have died in mass shootings this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, and at least 2,000 have been injured.
The Gateway Pundit noted that more than 140 mass shootings this year remain unsolved largely because no one will give descriptions to the police.
At least 20 of the mass shootings this year were in Chicago.

Congressman Louie Gohmert (TX01) spoke in the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties Hearing regarding H.R. 40, Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act. He talked about the missing history of the Democratic Party in the debate over reparations and responsibility. In his remarks, he noted that slavery and Jim Crow laws were part of the Democrats missing years. The missing years of Democrats history included overwhelming opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act as Rep. Gohmert noted, “Three-fourths of the opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act came in the House from the Democrats while 80% of the nay votes in the Senate came from the Democrats.”
He additionally said, “There is no reference in the history of the Democratic party platform supporting slavery. There were six of those from 1840 – 1860. No reference to the Democratic presidents who owned slaves – there were seven from 1800 – 1861. There is no reference to Democratic platforms that either supported segregation outright or were silent on the subject. There were twenty from 1868 – 1948. No reference to Jim Crow laws nor is there a reference to the role the Democrats played in creating them. These were the post-Civil War laws enthusiastically passed by the Democrats in that pesky fifty-year part of the DNC’s missing years.”
And added, “It is important that we know our history, and we not punish people today for the sins of their predecessors in the Democratic Party.”
He also questioned NFL legend Mr. Burgess Owens and asked, “What do you think your great grandfather Silas would have said to someone who claims, ‘the Republicans are the party of racism?’
Candace Owens Destroys Ted Lieu Over White Supremacy Accusation ‘The hearing today not about white nationalism or hate crimes…it’s about fear mongering, power and control,’ she says
Conservative activist Candace Owens tore into Democrat Rep. Ted Lieu (Calif.) for falsely pushing the narrative she supports Adolf Hitler by playing an out-of-context clip during her testimony before the House Judiciary Committee.
“I think it’s pretty apparent that Mr. Lieu believes that black people are stupid and will not pursue the full clip in its entirety,” Owens told the committee Tuesday.
“He purposely presented an extracted clip…That was unbelievably dishonest and he did not allow me to respond to it which is worrisome, and should tell you a lot about where people are today in terms of trying to drum up narratives.”
“I’m deeply offended by the insinuation of revealing that clip without the question that was asked of me,” she added.
Lieu played the clip of Owens speaking about Hitler during the committee’s hearing about what Big Tech should do to combat “white nationalism,” putting her remarks about nationalism out of context and refusing her an opportunity to respond.
Owens called the hearing a farce, saying it’s really about the Democrats’ pursuit of “power and control”
“The hearing today is not about white nationalism or hate crimes,” Owens said. “It’s about fear mongering, power and control. It’s a preview of the Democrats’ 2020 strategy.”
The Judiciary Committee’s website explained that the hearing would be about what Big Tech’s role should be in the future to address “white nationalist propaganda and hate speech.”
This hearing will examine hate crimes, the impact white nationalist groups have on American communities and the spread of white identity ideology,” the committee’s website states. “The hearing will also foster ideas about what social media companies can do to stem white nationalist propaganda and hate speech online.”
In other words, it’s about censorship and policing speech.
