Dystopia: World's First 'Biological Computer' Uses Human Brain Cells That Are Raised in a Simulation

TheBlaze.com

An Australian tech company has released what it is calling the world's first "biological computer" that fuses human brain cells with silicon hardware.

Cortical Labs, a company out of Melbourne, Australia, is led by CEO Hon Weng Chong and a team of researchers. Cortical Labs is boasting the release of the CL1, which is touted as a dynamic, sustainable, and energy-efficient computer that is better than any current artificial intelligence.

That is perhaps because the company says it uses human brain cells that are grown on a silicon "chip" and used as an organic computer. The technology, known as synthetic biological intelligence, allegedly outpaces silicon-based AI chips in terms of training language models, also commonly referred to as chatbots.

The company's website explains the life of the cells in detail, citing "real neurons" that are cultivated inside a nutrient-rich environment.

Video: New Breakthrough: New Light-Based Computer Takes Over!

What is Light-Based Computing?

Also known as optical computing or photonic computing, light-based computing is the usage of photons (or light) from lasers or diodes for computational purposes. For the most part, electronics and computers utilize electrons for computation.

Optical computing leverages an optical transistor, as opposed to the electronic transistors that Moore’s Law refers to. While data is channeled through photons, today’s technology still relies on processing information using logic and electrons.

To make light-based computing fully functional, there need to be microchips that use photons instead of electrons (i.e. a laser transistor).

Video: Microsoft's Topological Quantum Computer Explained

Topological quantum computing is a brand new form of quantum computing being developed by Microsoft as they enter the race to build the world's first useful quantum computer. In this video I visited Microsoft’s quantum labs to see how they are making their topological quantum computers and learn how topology helps their quantum devices avoid noise by harnessing the power of Majorana quasiparticles which are made from an exotic form of superconductivity where the electrons behave like there is a Majorana particle there which has the special properties of topology.

Video: How are Microchips Made? CPU Manufacturing Process Steps

Integrated Circuits, CPUs, GPUs, Systems on a Chip, Microcontroller Chips, and all the other different types of microchips are the brains of all the devices and technology that we use on a daily basis. But have you ever wondered how these microchips are made? Well, in this video, we're going to take a tour of a microchip fabrication plant or fab and walk you through the dozens of steps used to make a microchip. Specifically, we focus on how CPUs are made. CPU, GPU, and Smartphone Microchip manufacturing is a multi-trillion dollar industry, and each factory costs in the tens of billions of dollars. This is an overview of all the processes used to make a microchip, as well as an overview of a microchip factory. We're planning more videos on microchip manufacturing, such as a 3D animated factory tour.

This is the MOST complicated video we've made by FAR!! 4 different animators have been working on this video non-stop for the past 5 months, for a total of 1300 hours of research, modeling, script writing, animating, editing, animating again, rendering, and then more editing. World’s First “Bioprocessor” Uses Human Brain Tissue for Computing

Neuroplatform incorporates brain tissue with traditional circuitry and hardware

Infowars.com

A Swiss startup claims to have created the world’s first “bioprocessor” by integrating human brain tissue into a digital processor.

FinalSpark claims that its Neuroplatform will “consume a million times less power than traditional digital processors” and is capable of learning and processing information.

Neuroplatform uses architecture that mixes hardware, software and biology, otherwise known as “wetware.” The platform contains four multi-electrode arrays (MEAs) which house living brain tissue, or organoids.

Each MEA holds four organoids, interfaced by eight electrodes used for both stimulation and recording, and uses analog convertors for data transfer. The platform contains a life-support system for the living tissue and also monitoring cameras. A special software system allows researchers to enter commands and also read outputs.
