The UK’s Women’s Pool Championship is so woke, it woke any representation by actual women right out of the finals.

Both finalists, Harriet Haynes and Lucy Smith, are biological males who “identify” as women.

Haynes finished the 2024 season as the top-ranked women’s player in the Ultimate Pool Pro Series and appears on the way to defending that title in 2025. Haynes also finished as the top-ranked player in 2022 and finished second in 2023. Lucy Smith finished sixth in 2024 and fifth in 2023.

The winner of the event receives 1,800 pounds (about $2,320) and second place gets 900 pounds (about $1,160), according to the Ultimate Pool website. The rest of the top finishers (they pay a total of 16 places) receive 2,700 pounds COMBINED. That means that Haynes and Smith will receive as much money as the 14 women they defeated.

We’ve spent several years now talking about “toxic masculinity,” though I’m not sure what exactly it means. It’s a great example of what Andrew Hofer calls “Trojan terminology” — think “white supremacy,” “settler colonialism,” “anti-racism” etc. These are all phrases where Hofer notes there’s “a larger debate we need to have about the use of neologisms to sneak in all sorts of extra baggage that people disagree about.”

In the case of toxic masculinity, the vast majority of violence has always been committed by men. We can be honest about that and take reasonable steps to address male violence and misogyny. However, the rise of internet culture, and whatever else our woke montagnards are currently banging on about, doesn’t mean a problem inherent to the human condition has suddenly become uniquely “toxic.” By any historical standard, life for women in the West is the best it’s ever been. Not that reality stopped Democrats spending a tens of millions of dollars on ads implying hoards of abusive husbands are threatening their wives if they vote for Kamala Harris.

A new study from the UN special rapporteur on violence against women and girls, Reem Alsalem, was recently presented to the UN General Assembly.

The study “Violence against women and girls in sports” shares that more than 600 female athletes have lost to competitors who were born male in a variety of athletic events resulting in female athletes losing almost 900 medals to trans opponents.

“According to information received, by 30 March 2024, over 600 female athletes in more than 400 competitions have lost more than 890 medals in 29 different sports.”

This marks the first time trans “women” are known to have had a place on every podium spot in a cycling race. The two-person teams featured one biological woman racing with a biological male.

On Monday, The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the governing body for predominately small colleges overseeing approximately 83,000 student-athletes at schools across the country, announced a policy restricting transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.

NAIA’s Council of Presidents formed the NAIA Transgender Task Force in April 2022. NAIA’s policy had mirrored that of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) until January of 2022 and permitted transgender athletes to participate on teams that corresponded with their affirmed gender as long they first underwent a year of androgen suppression.

NAIA shared, “That January, the NCAA changed its policy to treat each sport differently based on the policy of the applicable Olympic national governing body (NGB). For sports with no applicable NGB policy, the NCAA is planning to turn to the policy of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee or the international federation for that sport.”
