Video: Texas Ranchers Say ‘Forever Chemicals’ In Human-Waste-based Fertilizers Ruined Their Land
Fertilizer runoff is toxic due to it being made from human waste that's loaded with "forever chemicals."
Ranchers in Texas have raised the alarm that their cattle, fish and horses are getting sick and even dying due to the spread of fertilizer from a nearby farmland.
A criminal investigation launched by Johnson County officials traced the source of the runoff to large mounds of fertilizer made from treated human waste from Fort Worth.
Detective Dana Ames reports she learned the fertilizer is made from biosolids from human waste and is consequently loaded in PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals.”
“We are nervous, and we are scared,” said Grandview Rancher Tony Coleman to WFAA. “You have your whole livelihood taken from you.”
“This stuff should be banned all across America … I mean, what are our children going to do? You are ruining their land. You are ruining their water source… This has to stop.”
