A Million Global Migrants Currently Bottlenecked in Mexico
Roughly 1 million migrants from across the globe are currently making their way to the United States, according to an expert with sources throughout Mexico.
Auden Cabello, a Texas-based immigration reporter who lived in Mexico for many years, believes many hundreds of thousands of migrants are bottlenecked between Guatemala and the U.S., most of whom are determined to continue traveling north.
“I’ve looked at the numbers from IOM (UN International Organization for Migration) and different statistics from Mexican immigration, and I’ve estimated that there are approximately a million migrants just in Mexico alone. Tapachula is still receiving up to a thousand daily,” Cabello told immigration news outlet Border Hawk in a recent interview.
“I think it’s just a matter of time before they decide they’re running out of time and say, ‘You know what? We can’t wait on CBP One. We’ve gotta rush the border and cross before Trump gets in.’”
Cabello’s sources tell him migrants are becoming impatient and desperate as they await approval of CBP One appointments in southern and central Mexico, and some are making their way to the border city of Piedras Negras, where they are crossing in large groups into Eagle Pass, TX.
An operation in effect for much of 2024 whereby Mexican authorities prevented migrants from hopping atop northbound trains has come to an end, providing an opportunity for the poorest prospective illegals to begin flooding Piedras Negras by the thousands per day, as they did for much of 2023.
Shelters in Monterrey, some 250 miles south of Piedras Negras, are reportedly overflowing with migrants from around the world.
“There are two things I’ve learned from talking to migrants over the years. One is, they’re not going to voluntarily go back to their country of origin. They’ve sold everything to make this trip,” Cabello said.
“And two, they’re not going to remain in Mexico. Today’s rejected asylum seekers will be tomorrow’s gotaways. These migrants are steadfast in their will to get into the U.S.”
Cabello predicts that a U.S. crime wave sparked by the Biden-Harris invasion will soon escalate as the Trump administration begins confronting foreign gangs and criminals, and sanctuary jurisdictions start rolling back lavish benefits illegals have been enjoying for years.
“What’s going to happen with all those migrants at shelters in places like New York City and Chicago? Once that funding is cut off, what are you going to do with them?” Cabello asserted.
“Who is going to feed them? They’re going to be hungry. I think you’re going to see another crime wave when all these migrants are released into the streets and kicked out of the shelters.”
