Various U.S. government agencies have funded research for more than a decade that contributed to the creation of 1,020 U.S. patents for China-based entities, Reuters reported on Thursday.

The patents were granted in fields such as semiconductors, chemical engineering, nanotechnology and biotechnology, and all were funded at least in part by the U.S. and one China-based investor, according to Reuters. The revelations come alongside debates over whether the U.S. should withdraw from the U.S.-China Science and Technology Agreement, a bilateral research deal between the two countries that has fallen under some criticism for allegedly giving too much benefit to China.

“It’s alarming that U.S. taxpayers have unwittingly funded over 1,000 patents claimed by Chinese entities, with the Department of Defense accounting for nearly 100 of these patents,” Michigan Republican Rep. John Moolenar, chairman of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, told Reuters.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) gave away the neocon playbook Sunday, admitting that the U.S. must win the Ukraine proxy war against Russia to control Ukraine’s vast resources worth trillions of dollars.

“They’re sitting on 10-12 trillion dollars of critical minerals in Ukraine. They could be the richest country in all of Europe,” Graham said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

“I don’t want to give that money and those assets to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to share with China.”

Restaurants across the state of California have cut at least 10,000 jobs since Democrat lawmakers mandated a $20 minimum wage, according to a major trade group.

According to the California Business and Industrial Alliance (CABIA), thousands of restaurant workers have lost their positions as businesses are forced to cut labor costs and raise their prices in order to survive.

Due to the Biden administration’s significant funding boost, the Internal Revenue Service plans to dramatically increase audit procedures for big corporations, partnerships, and multimillionaires over the next three years.

In a recent press release, the IRS said it aims to nearly triple its audit rate to 22.6% for corporations with upwards of $250 million worth of assets in the 2026 tax year.

Audits in 2019 were 8.8%, a steep increase over the 9.0% in 2018.

The European Parliament has approved a directive that will severely limit the use of cash. 

Under the directive, ostensibly aimed at curbing money laundering and the funding of terrorism, anonymous cash payments over €3,000 will be banned in commercial transactions. In business transactions, cash payments over €10,000 will be completely banned. Anonymous payments in cryptocurrencies will also be completely banned. 

“Under the guise of combating money laundering, you are actually waging a war against cash which has protected our financial privacy since time immemorial,” said German Pirate Party MEP Partick Breyer—one of the few opponents of the measure—during the plenary session.
