Opposition Roasts Trudeau’s ‘Slow-Motion Resignation’, Demands Snap Elections at Once

TheGatewayPundit.com

Most Canadians celebrated the news that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau decided finally to resign – as did conservatives in America and all over the world.

But as we examine exactly how he has manifested his resignation, we see that even on his way out, the poster boy of Globalism is still resorting to his dirty tricks.

He says he will resign ‘when the Liberal party chooses a new leader’, in a ‘robust process’ that, he said, will take weeks solely to define the rules – let alone actually implement the vote.

In the meantime, Parliament will be prorogued so that he is not immediately thrown out by a no-confidence vote.

Of course, opposition is livid. The Conservative Party leader accused Justin Trudeau’s party of ‘clinging to power’.

On his way out, Trudeau is still using dirty political tricks.

The Telegraph reported:

“Pierre Poilievre, the Conservative Party leader, said Mr. Trudeau must call an immediate snap election to allow Canadians to ‘take back control’ of their lives after months of political instability.”

The opposition leader says that this year’s vote will be a referendum on Mr. Trudeau’s deranged ‘Carbon Tax’, charging $80 (£44.50) per ton of petroleum.

“’Everything’s out of control, and now the government is out of control’, he said. ‘This cannot go on. Canadians can take back control of their lives and their country’.”

Trudeau wants Parliament suspended while Liberal party leadership contest is ongoing, to resume only on March 24.

But Poilievre wants a snap election now.

“Mr. Trudeau’s decision to prorogue parliament is therefore likely to prove controversial, and could be challenged in the courts.

[…] His critics are likely to argue that he has sent MPs home to avoid a confidence vote, giving his party time to elect a more popular leader and recover its ratings before the election. A federal vote must be held by Oct 20.”
