Representative Devin Nunes on Friday called for “everything” related to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation to be made public.

“I want everything that Mueller did made public. I want every email, everybody that they wiretapped, every warrant that they got,” Nunes, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said during remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

“I think the White House is going to ultimately have to get involved in declassifying all documents,” Nunes said, adding that he doubts the Justice Department will declassify all the documents, based on its previous reluctance to declassify other documents related to the investigation.

However, the California Republican also said he does not think any report on the probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election will contain anything “worthwhile, with anything new.”

Nunes has frequently accused the FBI and Justice Department officials of harboring bias against Trump. He headed the House Intelligence Committee’s own Russia investigation in 2017 but recused himself after his controversial decision to visit the White House to examine classified documents.

Recent reports have suggested that Attorney General William Barr expects Mueller to wrap up the investigation and submit a final report in the next few weeks.

During his confirmation hearing, Barr told Congress that he intended to “provide as much transparency as I can” regarding reports on the investigation, but declined to promise to release the full report to the public.

“I also believe it is very important that the public and Congress be informed of the results of the special counsel’s work,” Barr told the Senate Judiciary Committee in January. “For that reason, my goal will be to provide as much transparency as I can consistent with the law.”

As an Army lieutenant general who used to head up the Defense Intelligence Agency and was a top intelligence adviser to Gen. Stanley McChrystal in Iraq and Afghanistan, Mike Flynn has been around the block when it comes to how the U.S. intelligence community operates.

Appointed to the DIA by then-President Obama in 2012, Flynn came into the job vowing to accelerate the agency’s transition into an entity whose analysts and spies worked more closely with field commanders and focused on emerging threats notin Afghanistan and Iraq.

In 2014 he was pushed out by Obama a year ahead of schedule after butting heads with superiors and subordinates over his “management style,” according to The Washington Post. One of those he tussled with was then-Director of National Intelligence and serial liar James Clapper, one of those who helped Obama carry out the “Spygate” operation against POTUS Donald Trump and his incoming administration. Flynn was no fan of Obama and his operatives.

Recall that Flynn was an early casualty of the Trump administration.

This all helps explain why the intelligence community that Flynn once served set him up for a fall shortly after he joined Team Trump in the fall of 2015: He had already been on the outs with those establishment types who ‘ran things;’ throwing his hat into the ring with Trump was the final straw.

Former FBI Director James Comey testified in a closed-door congressional hearing. The House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees sought answers regarding the origins of the FBI investigation of Trump-Russia.  The key takeaways are that Comey provided few details that were not already known and appeared forgetful, replying ‘I don’t know,” “I can’t remember,” or “I don’t recall,” at least 236 times, according to the Judiciary committee.

Comey reportedly “went to bat” for former FBI agent Peter Strzok who was fired earlier this year for political bias. Comey’s testimony stands in stark contrast to a Department of Justice (DOJ) inspector general (IG) report from June. The June IG report revealed Comey “broke protocol” in his handling of the Clinton email investigation. The IG provided examples of widespread political bias and misconduct at the FBI under Comey’s tenure—including a lack of candor about media leaks.

President Donald Trump immediately blasted Comey on Twitter following the hearing: “James Comey just totally exposed his partisan stance by urging his fellow Democrats to take back the White House in 2020. In other words, he is and has been a Democrat. Comey had no right heading the FBI at any time, but especially after his mind exploded!”

Comey, a longtime Republican, renounced his party earlier this year and now offers campaign advice to Democrats. In late July, Comey wrote the following on Twitter:

“Democrats, please, please don’t lose your minds and rush to the socialist left. This president and his Republican Party are counting on you to do exactly that. America’s great middle wants sensible, balanced, ethical leadership.”

Comey likes to talk about ethics and leadership. His recent book, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” is the exact kind of roundabout self-promotion that disgusts his former colleagues. The insider-account book was based on FBI memos and experiences and Comey bagged more than $2 million in advance.

Indeed, Comey has worked very hard for many years to cultivate an image of being an upstanding, moral individual—a “boy scout” of a man who speaks truth to power.

That image is a sham.
